Berberine attenuates olanzapine induced-metabolic syndrome.

Abstract: 

Objective: To elucidate the protective effect of berberine on olanzapine induced-metabolic syndrome.Methods: This prospective experimental study involved thirty Sprague-Dawley male rats which were divided into three groups. Group A (n=10): Rats treated with distilled water, Group B (n=10): Rats treated with olanzapine, Group C (n=10): Rats treated with olanzapine plus berberine. The duration of the study was 8 weeks, baseline and follow up data were evaluated.
